Keep those filters clean. For heavily soiled cartridges, basic rinsing of filters does not remove oils that can clog up the elements. Initial rinsing then soaking elements in a light dishing washing solution (1/2 cup) or a solution of TSP in a barrel of water for  3- 4 hours. Rinse cartridge elements thoroughly. Then spray Filter Blaster on elements and after an approximate 15 minutes, rinse off filters thoroughly again. This will give the filter cartridges the ultimate thorough cleaning.

This is the time of year when our wacky weather can bring us wind and rain that can introduce in all those pollutants & dirt, which can cause water problems or even staining.  It’s recommended that some prevention be used. Brushing the pool walls & steps and using a sequestering agent to prevent stains from forming on your pool surface. I use a stain remover at least every 6 months, but this also depends on the pool surface. I have a white plaster pool and since I do keep a heavier residual of chlorine in my water, which also can cause staining, so I use a preventative and a stain remover depending on the time of year. I use the stain remover just before pool season that makes that plaster nice white again.

Check your pool water with chart below. Calcium Hardness would need to have water sample brought into store to get base reading. Figures highlighted in yellow would be averages for our area. Ideal range for plaster pools is:  0.0 - .5
Any figure above would need to have acid added. Any figure below range would be to acidic and would need to be treated. Check with me for amounts to be added.
